Amaztype

Amaztype is a pretty neat flash program that will contruct an image using book covers, music albums and videos from Amazon. Let's say you wanted to see what books have Viking in the title or movies that star Bruce Willis. It isn't the best way to find something, but it is a pretty neat application.

Sleeping Beauty

"All this time we got the fable of Sleeping Beauty wrong. The prince didn't kiss her to wake her up. No one who slept for a hundred years is likely to wake up. It was the other way round. He kisses her to wake himself up from the nightmare that has brought him there." - Max Payne in The Fall of Max Payne

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I'm appropriately wearing green today. It isn't anything tricky like one green sock or a tie clip that has a speck of green on it. I have a very obvious green tie on today. When I was in elementary school, you would get pinched if you weren't wearing green on St. Paddy's Day. The trick was to actually have green on and get pinched. That way you could pinch back 10 times. My web site here is also green so no worries there.

Here is my gift to everyone today.

On another note, it snowed and sleeted last night. I think this will be the last snow for old man winter this year. We had a very mild winter overall but a lot of snow. We never had a really big snow, but lots of small ones that just covered the ground.

Flickr Words

I'm having a lot of fun with Flickr lately. You can make up words using pictures. Just type in what you want to spell out. If you don't like a particular picture, just click on it to replace it with another one.

Pancake Cutter

Who wouldn't want a Pancake Cutter? I like my pancakes cut up into wedges like a pizza. How do you cut your pancakes? With a knife? Don't make me snicker and look down my nose at you. In this modern world, sophisticated people use the proper equipment. Time to come out of the dark ages.

Radiator

I drove by Bojangles today and then headed over to the ATM to grab some cash. When I pulled into the parking lot for the ATM, I heard a weird noise. I thought I was getting sprayed with a hose, until I saw smoke come pouring out of the hood. My first thought was that my engine caught on fire and I jumped out of the car. Smoke was coming in the vents as well. Then, it hit me what happened. My radiator blew from the car overheating. So, there I was. I called Ian but he had his phone cut off so I left a few not so creative messages on his voice mail to come get me. I also called my mom and was afriad that the phone was going to die due to a low battery while I was trying to explain what was going on. I did find my charger cord in the back seat so I was able to entertain myself while I waited. It was a slow hour and half sitting there. I found a sheet that I printed out talking about creating php pages. I didn't feel like reading though. My mom showed up quickly compared to how far she had to drive. I will have to call someone to tow my car since it is still sitting in the parking lot as I type. Oh well, some days are just better than others I guess.

Time Marches On

White Rabbit. Well, today is the first day of March. It was snowing like was no tomorrow earlier, but the sun came out and it all blew away. It reminds me of some old Dr. Seuss book that had new types of weather in it. One of the types was like snow, but it wasn't cold and didn't melt. After a while, it just blew away. March always makes me think of St. Patricks Day as well as flying kites and the ides of March.

I remember the "classic" version of Lucky Charms. The only types of marshmallows were Pink Hearts, Yellow Moons, Orange Stars & Green Clovers.

(Image from
Cereal Boxes Archive)

Today's modern version has Pink Hearts; Purple Horseshoes; Blue & Yellow Moons; Red & Orange Balloons; Blue, Yellow & Pink Rainbows; Yellow & White Shooting Stars; Light Green Hats with Dark Green Clovers; Orange & Yellow Pots of Gold......

It only makes me wonder what will be next.

Another funny thing that has happened to cereal over the years is that the names have changed. Sugar Smacks became Honey Smacks and then just simply Smacks. It makes it healthier to change the name.
