November 10, 2002: Teigue has a dinosaur movie he likes to watch and has gone on long drives to see things before; he was watching it then came to me and said:

Teigue: Daddy, need to go on long drive to see allosaurus?
Me: We can't Teigue; There's not any allosauruses today.
Teigue: No, need to see the mommy allosaurus.
Me: That's just on TV, she's not real, it's just pretend. There's no allosaurs today.
Teigue: Whynot?
Me: They all died a long time ago, today we just have the bones left.
Teigue: (Thinks first for a second) Need to see triceratops?
Me: No, they're all gone too, just bones today.
Teigue: Need long drive to see the stegosaurus?
Me: There aren't any more stegosaurs; all the dinosaurs are gone.
Teigue: Diplodocus?
Me: Teigue, there aren't any dinosaurs they died a long time ago, we just have the bones to look at today.
Teigue: Why?
Me: A big rock hit the earth and made a big fire and killed all of them along time ago.
(He thinks for a few seconds. I think he understands this and he has seen it on the movie, also he has seen when you zoom in that things live on the earth. I have tried to explain about planets to him before.)
Teigue: OK, need to go see dinosaur bones. Long drive?
Me: Yes, we can see the bones; let me figure out where to go.
(Teigue takes a trip to PRI that afternoon to see mastodon bones and a cast T. Rex skull among other things.)

November 2, 2002: While putting on a coat by the door to go outside: "I'm hungi (hungry), need to catch a deer."

- Teigue: "What's that?" pointing to the greyhound painted on the back.
- Me: "A dog on the bus."
- Teigue: "Yes, dogs need to go to dog's school."
